Job Description

The Faculty of Computing and Technology at University of Kelaniya is seeking highly motivated research assistants to join our team on the “Pyrolysis-based thermochemical conversion of textile sludge into energy and value-added products” project. The project aims to understand the nature of textile sludge generation in Sri Lanka and to develop economically and environmentally sustainable pyrolysis process for textile sludge management. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and make a positive impact on the environment and industry. Key Responsibilities:

·      Conduct literature reviews on thermal processing of sludge.

·      Assist in the design and execution of laboratory experiments.

·      Analyze data and contribute to the interpretation of results.

·      Prepare reports and presentations to communicate project progress and results.

·      Maintain accurate and organized records of experiments and data.

·      Collaborate with the project team and participate in meetings and discussions.

Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology focusing on environmental engineering, sustainable technology, chemical process, textile process or a related field.

·      Laboratory experience in pyrolysis process, textile sludge characterization or related field will be added advantages.

·      Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills

·      Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and data analysis software.

Contract Duration:

This is a full-time position and initially, the appointment will be made for a period of 6 months and may be renewed based on performance during the period of the relevant research project.  

Allowance:

A monthly allowance of LKR 50,00.00 will be paid for Research Assistants, subject to satisfactory performance. Payments will be made upon submission of the time sheet and attendance with the recommendation of the Principal Investigator and approval of the Deputy Project Director.
